Streeterville Organization of Active Residents
"This area between North Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile) and Lake Michigan contains luxurious apartment buildings and hotels, world-class restaurants, top attractions like Navy Pier and the Museum of Contemporary Art and leading medical centers, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Northwestern's colleges of law and medicine also are in Streeterville, named for George Wellington Streeter (1837-1921), an eccentric ship captain who laid claim to the area but lost in the courts and ended up in prison."

Streeterville "is bounded by the river on the south, the Magnificent Mile portion of Michigan Avenue on the west, and Lake Michigan on the north and east. Thus, it can be described as the Magnificent Mile plus all land east of it."
